Illustrations for The Origin book

This graphic novel is an exploration of relation between memory and myth, how one can become another. Using my lucid dream which happened 7 years ago, I wrote down the memory of that magical psychedelic night and passed it on for 7 people to interpret what they heard and memorised. One after another using linear chain structure as in Chinese Whispers game (or Telephone for those who are more familiar with this name), the story changed its narrative, mood, key points and the whole atmosphere so much it became hard to distinguish what was the starting point of this story. The origin, however, was sat in my own head waiting for this moment to be drawn into this little illustration book, now welcoming everyone to be part of the story and continuous journey.

I started working on these illustration using traditional mediums such as pen, pencil and indian ink on watercolour paper. Part of the experimentation was done digitally however I decided to keep the feeling of vintage illustration books so I used watercolour paint for colour filling. All the layering was made using Adobe Photoshop.
